All Electric. All SUV. The new Volkswagen ID.4 has been revealed.
After much anticipation, on 23rd September 2020 Volkswagen's first all-electric SUV was revealed. “The ID.4 is an emotional all-rounder which will impress many customers with its efficient electric drive, generous amount of space, modern assist systems and powerful design,” says Chief Executive Officer of Volkswagen brand, Ralf Brandstätter.
The exterior boasts an ultra-modern, flowing design inspired by nature with great aerodynamics and features such as recessed door handles resulting in a drag coefficient of only 0.28. The ID.4 features LED lights as standard, with Volkswagen's automatically adjusting IQ Light system as an option.
The huge overhead glass panel and optional tilting panoramic sunroof allow for an unobstructed view of the sky above. The tinted glass helps maintain the vehicles internal temperature and the voice-controlled sun blind protects against those strong rays.
The ID.4 is intelligently designed to include even more space than traditional SUVs and is 102mm longer and 13mm wider than the Tiguan. The boot offers 543 litres of storage, which expands to 1575 litres with the rear seats folded down.
It can definitely go the distance, the 1ST model is available with a 77 kWh net battery capacity and a customer-oriented range of up to 310 miles. If you do need to top up on your journey plug your ID.4 into one of the Volkswagen partner's Ionity DC rapid charging stations and it can replenish the battery with 200 miles of range in just 30 minutes. Volkswagen are so sure that their ID.4 is a worthwhile investment that they guarantee the battery will have at least 70% capacity after 8 years or 100,000 miles.
